Development of low-fouling PVDF membranes blended with poly(2-methoxyethyl acrylate) via NIPS process

چکیده
PVDF-based membranes with low-fouling and high permeability properties were developed by blending poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) poly(2-methoxyethyl acrylate) (PMEA), a polymer, via non-solvent induced phase separation (NIPS). Since PMEA suppresses protein adsorption is insoluble in water, the homopolymer was used as an additive. Consequently, transparent dope solutions containing 15 wt% PVDF 0–7 prepared using N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone solvent. The macrovoids blended larger than those pristine membrane probably attributed to PMEA-promoted solvent exchange during NIPS process. As result, pure water permeabilities of 5–10 times higher membrane. ATR FT-IR characterization revealed that composition surfaces increased blend ratio solution increased. This resulted improvement their when 1000 ppm bovine serum albumin (BSA) lysozyme aqueous solutions. Additionally, PMEA-blended highest showed best properties.

In this study, a nonsolvent thermally-induced phase separation (NTIPS) method was first proposed to fabricate hydrophilically-modified poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) membranes to overcome the drawbacks of conventional thermally-induced phase separation (TIPS) and nonsolvent-induced phase separation (NIPS) methods. Hydrophilically-modified PVDF membranes were successfully prepared by blending ...
